2026 Art Gallery of Swan Hill Print and Drawing Acquisitive Awards


The mission of the 2026 Swan Hill Print and Drawing Acquisitive Awards is to promote excellence in Australian prints and drawings; present an outstanding exhibition of contemporary Australian prints and drawings, and continue to build a high-quality collection for Art Gallery of Swan Hill.
 
  • Entries Open: 3 January, 2026
  • Entries Close: 17 May
  • Announcement of Finalists: 12 June
  • Launch and official announcement of award winners: Saturday, 1 August 6-8pm
  • Walk through the exhibition with artists and judges: Sunday, 2 August at 11am

  • There is no limit to the number of entries an artist can submit. 
  • A separate application form and entry fee ($45 per work) must accompany each entry.
  • Payments can be made via council paypal address - paypal@swanhill.vic.gov.au
  • Completed entry form and electronic image can be emailed to printdrawingawards@gmail.com

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY.

1. Artists from around Australia are invited to submit a print or drawing created after June 2024.

2. All entrants must submit an entry form with a high-quality 300dpi electronic image of the work (either TIF or JPG max. 5 MB* PNGs are not suitable for printing) and a short statement, maximum length of 50 words. Email completed entry form and electronic image to printdrawingawards@gmail.com

3. Images, statement about the work, a signed entry form and a non-refundable handling fee of $45.00 per work will be accepted by Art Gallery of Swan Hill up until COB 17 May, 2026.

4. Late entries will not be accepted.

5. Finalists will be notified by 12 June 2026.

6. Awards are not open to employees or family members of Art Gallery of Swan Hill or members of the Art Gallery of Swan Hill Advisory Committee.

7. Finalists are responsible for delivering all work/s to Art Gallery of Swan Hill no later than 10 July, 2026.

8. Adequate protection must be taken in packaging work as no responsibility will be taken by Art Gallery of Swan Hill for damage or lost works during transit. Works of art will be insured whilst in storage and on display at Art Gallery of Swan Hill.

9. All works selected for the exhibition must be available for the duration of the exhibition, current from 2 August to 4 October November 2026.

10. Work is to be suitably mounted and ready to hang. Instructions are to be supplied with the work if alternative installation is required.

11. Finalists’ works must be available for sale. A commission of 20% will be retained by Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery upon sale of the artworks.

12. All finalists’ works and statement about their work must be available for any form of media promotion and advertising of the exhibition. The Gallery will strive to ensure any publicity of artwork is appropriate.

13. Two awards will be given. One print and one drawing will be acquired by Art Gallery of Swan Hill. Selected artists will receive the value of their work and an additional amount up to a total of $10,000.

14. Artists are responsible for the return of their artwork and must be collected by 6 November 2026.
